Mike Allen

Mike Allen

Mike Allen is a multi-instrumentalist folk musician with a preference for Celtic music.  He learned guitar chords in high school and began playing the fiddle in 1974. He frequently works as a session player/sideman with other Tahlequah musicians including; Debbie Duvall, Kelly Anquoe, Eddie Glenn, Rickey Ray, and others, using whatever combination of instruments that seems to fit into the mix.  He started playing Great Highland Bagpipes in 1995.  In 1996, influenced by the work of musician and folklorist  Robin Williamson, he purchased a folk harp.  He plays these instruments on the song “How Much Will You Pay.”

“How Much Will You Pay” is based on the changes that Allen has witnessed on and about the Illinois River since coming to Tahlequah in 1973.
