Rick Holderbee Band

Rick Holderbee Band, consisting of Singer-Songwriter Rick Holderbee, Russell Floyd on Guitar and Bass, Brandon Floyd on Drums, John Clark on Lead Guitar and Guitar Synthesizer, and Rick Holderbee on rythm guitar, with guest musicians Danny Maxwell on congas and rhythms, Dennis Tibbits on backup vocals, Kathy Tibbits on rasp.

Since making thie Rick Holderbee Band CD, Rick has teamed up with some new musicians and is performing regularly with The Fuzion Band.

Dying Planet is an eerie song, about overconsumption and answering the call for solving climate change, about logging and the air we breathe. It has a post-industrial sound, and John Clark puts in some awesome sound effects. Dying Planet was performed at the STIR Songwriters Earth Day Weekend Jam in 2006, where it was a big hit with the crowd. Since then, it has become available on the Rick Holderbee Band CD. This CD is chock full of classic rock original tunes by the talented Rick Holderbee, who takes a hand-on approach to achieve some great sound. On this CD, and in the song, the youngest musician on the Songs for the Illinois River CD is drummer Brandon Floyd, who was a high school student when it was recorded.

Similar Sounds and Performers: David Bowie, Moody Blues, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John.

Lyrics

Dying Planet

Chords: Dm-G-Am-F-G-E

It’s in the news all the time,

They say somewhere, Out in the sky, There’s a hole-

The air is dirty and the sky’s are grey,

I hear the ice, is melting away at the pole’s-

In our rivers, and in our streams,

Man is ruining, our children’s dreams, and our home-

We know it’s gonna have to stop somewhere,

Hell it’s even in our atmosphere,

It seems to me that man he just don’t care,

For our home, Our home-

We keep on fouling up the are we breathe,

We keep on dumping garbage in our seas,

We’re using up all our supply of trees,

And by the time I sing this song, A thousand more are gone,

All Gone - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It’s getting warmer when it should be cold,

The weather’s changing, It just don’t seem the same,

There’s radiation and there’s toxic waste,

Disease and sludge, And acid in our rain,

Man’s ears are deaf as we ignore our planets screams,

This Planets dying, because of man’s greedy needs,

And as if we didn’t know,

Where we gonna go - - - - - - - - - - - - -

(REPEAT MAIN CHORUS)
